Departing from our main office outpost, this delightful 4-mile float downstream offers a unique experience on one of the last remaining “V” dams in the United States.
As you paddle, you will encounter a diverse array of local fish species, from trout and carp to suckers and pike. The Nasby Millpond is a serene habitat for sandhill cranes, other captivating birds, and charming turtles. Depending on the water level, discover shallow, sandy spots ideal for a picturesque picnic lunch or letting the kids playfully splash about in the water.
Your journey concludes above the Nasby Dam, a stunning backdrop for memorable photos. For those with extra time, follow the portage trail around the dam and capture the perfect snapshot.

The Nasby Dam trip starts at our main office outpost. Please arrive 15-30 minutes before your scheduled departure for smooth check-in.
The trip covers 4 miles and typically takes around 1.5 hours, depending on the water level and your paddling speed. Feel free to take it leisurely with stops or paddle straight through.

The minimum age and weight requirement for children on all river trips is 3 years old and 30 pounds.
Everyone was extremely nice. They took the time to explain the route to 3 beginner kayakers. The route (Nasby Dam) was easy to navigate and took about 2 hours at a leisurely pace. We really enjoyed the experience and if we ever return to this area we will definitely do it again.

We did the Nasby Dam our first trip which was a nice and scenic trip. This year we did the Curtis Creek trip and truly enjoyed the added challenge and swifter water after our portage around Nasby Dam…Everyone at the Trading Post couldn’t have been nicer. We’ll definitely be back!
My family and I went kayaking on a Tuesday to the Nasby Dam. It was a slow paced, quiet day. We really enjoyed the peace and the beauty. Booking an appointment was easily done on line. The staff was so friendly and helpful…

An afternoon on the Pigeon River, outfitted by the Mongo Trading Post, is a memory to treasure. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and efficient and the scenery is lovely. We saw turtles and ducks, the old water wheel and shed and, of course, the dam is beautiful with a bit of hiking in the vicinity…
